God rest ye merry gentlemen, Let nothing you dismay, Remember Christ our Savior, Was born on Christmas Day, To save us all from Satan's pow'r, When we were gone astray, Oh tidings of comfort and joy, Comfort and joy, Oh tidings of comfort and joy
Are you feeling joy right now? Or has the current turn of events around the world, within your family and in your heart turned you away from any desire to celebrate. Maybe you have lost a loved one, which is certainly devastating. Or you have fallen to illness, lost a job, a business or a relationship. Maybe you’re working continuously on the front lines. All good reasons to be feeling low and disconnected.
Jolts such as these are for sure to knock us off stride, but unless we catch our balance and pump a little harder we will certainly stay off stride and possibly fall.
Do me a favor. Read the lyrics written above once again. There is hope written within those lines of song. Hope that will give you rest and give you peace from all that surrounds you. Furthermore, it gives you comfort and joy.
Between the lyrics is not just a melody but a person. Someone who loves you more than you can imagine. Someone who offers you the very tidings mentioned in the song and offers them Always.
Like it says, Christmas Day is the celebration of that reality. The person of Jesus Christ coming to earth to have a relationship with those who wish to know Him.
Jesus said,
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.
Give it a try. When I did it changed my life….forever!
