Whose Track Are You On?

Updated: Dec 29, 2018

All Aboard!! Do you know where you're going? Do you have your sights set on the destination? Are you on the right track? We're all on a track and we're all headed somewhere. It's happening every minute. You've heard that time waits for no one and of course you could sing along with, time keeps on tickin tickin tickin into the future. How does that sit with you? There was a time that I hated that saying and that song. I felt that time was dragging me along and I had absolutely no idea where I was going. I had no idea whose track I was on. The song says tickin tickin tickin but we will all arrive at a final tick one day and we will have arrived at a destination.

You might be thinking that you don't care where you'll end up. You're making it along just fine now and when you get to wherever, you'll make it along there just fine also. Sounds like you know whose track you are on. Yours. And how's that working for you? I mean deep down inside when you are all alone, how's that working for you?

Life in general gives us all kinds of junctions and cross overs to choose from and these choices keep us headed in a certain direction. Sometimes we get off track and need to get back on track, but the question remains. Whose track are you on?

God has a track to follow and it is a pretty simple route. Once you get on His track and stay on track you journey to a promised destination, which makes that last tick something worth waiting for. God lays it all out in His word, the Bible. OK here we go, pulling out God's word to shame me into doing something you think I should do. No, I'm pulling out God's word to show you what got me on track.

There was a time when certain sin had a strong hold on me. I couldn't say no to it no matter what. I looked at it, new it was wrong, hated that fact that I gave in to it but at the same time I looked for it, coddled it and wore it like a badge of honor. That's the track I was on and it was leading me deeper and deeper into it's stronger hold. It began to define who I was and at the same time convince me that I was just fine. In Romans chapter 7 verses 15 thru 25 the apostle Paul talks of this very thing and ends the conversation with the question, "Who will deliver me" from all this? And goes on to say, "Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!" I'm here to tell you that I was delivered from this situation and was taken off that track and placed on His track. Do I still have my sinful ways calling out to me? yes. Am I tempted to go back to my old ways? Yes. But this time around I have the ability to say No.

How? you ask. By confessing that Jesus is Lord and by believing that He came to earth to die on the cross for us and was furthermore raised from the dead and is alive today as the advocate for all who confess this truth. At the point of this confession God gave to me the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide me and protect me from the sinful ways that once controlled my life. It wasn't my strength that allowed me to break the strong hold that was over me or which allows me to say no to the temptations I have to derail and jump back on to my previous track. It is the strength of the Holy Spirit within me that keeps me on track. It's such a better ride on this track. There are still sharp turns, steep climbs and dark tunnels, but it is a better ride.

Keep following along to learn more about my journey. Shoot me a question about your journey or join our small group. Let's help each other get on and stay on the right track.

Whose track am I on? Jesus Christ's

One Thing

How do you walk? One step at a time? How do you speak? One word at a time? How do you change? One thought at a time? One process at a time? So many of us get so overwhelmed by trying to do everything
